I leave my PC on and disconnected from the web for long periods. Very little internet use. The freezing started two updates ago. Never bothered to check the exact update name since the process to remove an update was unknown to me. I formated my hard drive and everything seems normal. It may take awhile, but I will try your suggestion first. I forgot there isn't an auto-update for the drivers. Is there a way to uninstall a specific update? This thread is locked.

Hello: If you get an error trying to install Vista Update KB, try the following: Go to the list of your installed updates. Restart your computer. Run it from your hard drive. I found the first 2 in my components key and figured what the heck i'd give it a shot just deleting those two seeing how no 3rd is present, and that seems to have did the trick, my error when trying to load updates is gone, hopefully i won't run into anymore i'm downloading the updates at the moment. Monday, August 11, AM. Well I'm having this issue with a Windows Server machine as well. This seemed to work but I ended up getting the same error message again once it redownloaded everything. Turns out with Windows Server you must have the Users group with read permissions on the root system drive. We've removed this account from the root drives with NT4, Win Server, Win Server, and thought we'd be able to do it with Win Server but apparently not.

Both of my security programs McAfee and SpySweeper now fail on my computer, so I'm thinking these updates need to be made quickly. Please help! I am not very well versed in computer language it took me a little while to figure out how to access the registry haha , but I really need to get this fixed!

I tried this and I do not seem to have this Kb? Should I try to install it from Microsoft downloads? I am running Vista Ultimate and have not been able to get automated updates or do Disk Degragment for over a year now.
